You can but if people are asking you for a buy it now price and you have a bid allready and there is still 4 days left, it sounds like something that people want to buy. So i would leave it as is and i reckon your reserve will be met! Let this guy or girl who wants to buy it now bid for it as that is the whole point.... He is just tryin to get it cheaper.

I wouldn't suggest that, you have the price what you wanted it as, they are trying to cheat the system, now you might consider re listing it if you don't get your price and add the buy it now price. But don't go out of your way to make sure that person gets the item. I was in a bidding war in the last 20 minutes or so of a laptop auction the other day. I let the other person have it. Within a few minutes of the end, the auction was thrown out by the seller. The buyer had sent what appeared to be a fake pay pal transfer, which turned out to be junk, it never appeared in the sellers account, and they buyer wanted it shipped to Nigeria, the seller was only shipping to the US. So it was clear that things were messed up, the account had good Feedback so it was known that the account had been hacked and stolen. EBay investigated it and was trying to give the account back to its original owner. My suggestion once again is just to not do it and risk losing your account. Just if you happen to re list then just add a buy it now.

Don't do it!!
You have commited to a contract with the current bidder that you will sell that item to this person (The bidder). If you cancel this contract without due cause (and to give better chances to another bidder is not a due cause), then you have breached that contract.
Not even to mention the bad customer service you are giving to the other person.
If this 2nd party is interested in buying your item, Ask them to place a bid, and then the 2 parties can increase your profit whilst remaining fair and legal.
If you placed a reserve on your item and it does not pass the reserve limit, E-bay will step in and help with this.
Remember, You have entered into a contract with the first bidder, and to break it is against contractural law.

I think you should wait and see what happens with the auction....it could have a lot of bids on it at the end and meet its reserve price so stick with it. I trade on Ebay and I know how awkward it is when someone pushes to have a buy now. Stick with I say and await the auctions end hopefully, fingers crossed, it will meet its reserve or more and if it doesn't then re advertise it and reduce your reserve.....if you can.

All you other answers are right- once the bidding begins you must let it play out- you can email this customer and say if the bidder gets funky on paying you can give them a "second chance offer". If you have more- then tell them that- take some time and go to Ebay and read the seller tutorials- very helpful and easy, well worth it.

The only way you could do it is cancel their bid then stop the auction and re enter it with a buy it now price OR get them to bid their buy it now price then end the auction early

They are just trying it on,
Just reply to them that you will let the auction run and you hope they have good luck.
There is 4 days left, relax its early yet as most bids will come in at the last moment.

No you're not allowed to do that. Check out the rules and regulations on the ebay site. Tell this person to bid like everyone else. They could be lying anyway, and then you will be the one that loses out. :-) good luck!

you can stop the auction or set it up with a "buy it now" price, or deal with that person on the side, but don't get caught by ebay
