1. When did this story take place?
2. What happened after an accused man was killed by a tiger?
3. Why did the people of the country think "the lady or the tiger" law was a good one?
4. How did the princess discover the secret of the doors?
5. Why did the princess hate the young lady behind the door?
6. Why did no one except the young man see the princess move her hand to the right?

1. It's a legend.
2. He was dead. The tiger was satisfied.
3. They liked the suspence. It gave a condemned man one last chance (just in case he really was innocent), and them something to bet on.
4. The tiger handler was secretly in love with her.
5. She wanted the young man for herself.
6. If anyone cared enough to see, they would either have thought 1) she was just guessing, 2) that, being the princess, she had the right to have some power, or 3) they would have known that whatever she said wouldn't really tell anything. The young man was "doomed" either way.

Isn't that one of the 'Tales of 1000 Nights'? If so, it's probably all imaginary.
