I went to a small Catholic school and we had to complete 10 hours of community service every month.

Dragon didn't have to for high school, she volunteered because she wanted to.
In college for one class, she had to do a community service project and then write a paper about it. That was harder because she had to fit the community service into her already busy college schedule.

It was a requirement for any Social Studies class. All we had to have was 17 hours but I did 37 hours. I volunteered at YMHA twice a week (2-3 hrs. each ). That was enough for me 'cause I had to juggle my schedule between that, school and SAT classes.

No my school did not do that, but my church did. It's a great idea, good for you for giving back to the community.

I never had time to, I wish I had. I would only do it from my heart, not for my application.
