Iraq is controlled by a puppet regime, the people only voted because they thought they would lose their influence, but the only influence is the American occupiers.

It will be interesting to see how it evolves after thousands of years of tribal rule. Perhaps a democratic form of tribal rule will be created where the different tribes are provided with a democratic process by the central government while the individuals belonging to the tribes are not.

Maybe not to the extent some other countries are, but definitely more Democratic than they were under Saddam.

Just so you know--the USA isn't a Democracy. It's a democratic republic.

It would be if the people in Iraq weren't living in fear. The United States is trying to help the people in Iraq, and keep the bad apples from instilling fear. It will be a true democracy in time, but the government of Iraq has to step up to the plate soon and try to help the people they supposedly represent. The sooner that government steps up, the sooner we can pull troops out.
