In honor of my late grandmother, I want to set up a small yearly scholarship for a German-American or German immigrant who wishes to pursue a career in either the nursing or veterinary fields and study at a specific Florida university. It will only be for $100 or so, enough to buy a book or two, but I know to many people even a small amount like that can assist.

How do I set it up? How do I advertise it? Please feel free to give me any information in addition to answering these questions. Thanks.

Anything is a help for someone with money trying to get an Education. Two ways you can approach this. Contact your State Board of Education and they may help. OR, this what I would do; Contact a College of your choice maybe a college she went to or liked and they set this up with that college. You can state specific requirements to qualify for the Scholarship too. Like a certain Grade Point Average (I not sure I would limit this, it up to you). As you stated, you can specify it go to a Nursing or Vet degree/major. Also, you can specify the person be willing to work in a certain area of your State for maybe a year before they go somewhere else. There are many options and a College can help with this. Good Luck.

You do not set it up or advertise it yourself. The university does. You must get in touch with the university's Development Office. You will give the money to them, and they will set up the means to take applicants, choose applicants, and disburse the funds.

If the university in question does not have a Development Office (in some cases, this office may be named something else), then simply contact the Alumni association, and they will direct you to the correct office.
