Neither. It was when Arthur Godfrey fired Julius LaRosa on live tv.
Whew! That was embarrassing!

I don't know how many people will remember the Bozo the Clown TV show, but it was very popular years ago. Well, back in those days, many shows were broadcast live, not taped and replayed later.
One day Bozo had on his show a very rude little boy who told him "Up yours, clown!" Shocked, Bozo told him, "You can't say that on the Bozo Show!" To which the boy responded, "Sure I can. Up yours, clown!"
You see why so many shows use at least a ten second tape loop now, so that they can bleep out stuff like that.
Before Bozo, there was a radio show in the old days, something like the Uncle Bob Children's Hour, o.s.l.t., where kindly old Uncle Bob would tell stories for kids.
Well, one day at the end of a very hard week Uncle Bob was not aware that the mike had been left on, and said, "Well, that oughtta hold the little b******s for another week."
It went out on the air, there were LOTS of complaints, and he lost his show.
