In 1538 Henry VIII owned 13 palaces in and around London.
Henry VIII didn't reside in the Tower of London although his father did at times. There were apartments there which Queen Anne Boleyn used prior to her wedding procession and celebrations and feasting took place there.

Henry was born at Greenwich Palace and grew up at Eltham Palace. He built St James Palace and live in Whitehall Palace in London. Hampton Court he took from Cardinal Wolsey. There was Nonsuch Palace in Surrey, only recently excavated, Richmond, among others, not tp mention Henry's castles such as WIndsor.
