Since you've mentioned $ instead of £ here's a link to the US site of Dell. http://www.dell.com/content/products/results.aspx/notebooks?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&~ck=anav&a=9323~0~49300&navla=9323~0~49300 there are currently 4 good laptop's there. However it does depend on what you're going to use the laptop for. If it's just for college work, surfing the internet, e-mail then those will suit you fine. However if you're going to use the laptop for games, etc then you'll need something with a little bit more kick. You may wish to look at something alot these lines: http://www.dell.com/content/products/results.aspx/notebooks?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&~ck=anav&a=9323~0~49301&navla=9323~0~49301

But my personal favorite laptop brand (I've used them for the last 5 years with no problems) are Toshiba's: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/clin.to?coid=-26368 they start at $549

Hope you find the above links useful.

Look for a core duo. This weekend a friend bought a Gateway core duo, 160gb hard drive 1024 memory for 749.00 at Best Buy.

I love my Dell. Works great, great customer service, and my computer instructors at college recommended that I buy Dell.

For eight hundred you could get a kick *** Dell. Good Luck!
