She would bug you for the mouse you ordered, telling you that she doesn't like the color. Even bring the matter to her manager.

I think my initial reaction would be a bit of an open mouthed "are you serious, hon?" look closely followed by "You need to get out more." Future issues would likely result in incredulous looks or a smile and nod. Maybe clue her in that she is destroying her own credibility.

like a pet mouse? computer mouse?

regardless, these people that are so concerned with someone elses choices mean that they are insecure of their own choices that they ignore everything about themself and concentrate on other people.

what to do:
Thank them for their comments. Smile and say things like "youre right." or "wow, I like your perception of that matter." all they are looking for is some positive feedback from you and maybe a friendly gesture. theses people just really want to be loved. you should see her as your mother or someone you really care for. maybe get to know her and understand things about her. no need to compound the situation with your emotions by getting upset with her. Her ways of dealing with things (telling the boss on you) over powers you so you should take a different approach, a more loving and kind approach.. take care of her and she'll end up being one of the most loyal and caring people in your life. no harm in trying.

Nothing you can really do. But take comfort in the fact that she probably has a reputation for being a "whiner" and that no one really likes here. Chances are, if she is bothered by something as minor as that, she won't last long in your workplace.

Sounds like she is jealous of you to me. Just tell her that no one likes a complainer and keep working.

Ignore it. You can't change her, so don't waste your energy. Just smile and be pleasant. (It'll drive her nuts!)
