Lincoln was forced into War, as he said
"I have an oath sworn in heaven to preserve protect and defend the constitution" The South claimed that each state had rights above what the federal govt in Washington could tell them. The North claimed that without strong central govt there could be an anarchy of each state doing as it pleased and laws with no power as soon as you crossed a state line. That's why Lincolns Gettysburg address is so famous it outlines the good of Govt, of, for and by the people, and how the common good must sometimes super cede the wants of some of the people
If Bush was President when the South Shelled Fort Sumter I guess he would have declared war on Venezuela
Wilson try as he might could not avoid the war to end all wars
Germany's aggression, the sinking of American shipping and the British Lusitania with 130 Americans on board as example, pushed the U.S. out of its state of neutrality. This was a war of Treaties and Allies with a domino affect. One country joining on one side causing another country to join the other. The U.S benefited greatly Europe was war ravaged many of its economies devastated, while the US was virtually untouched and actually profited greatly from the war. Its consequence was the first try at World cooperation called the League on Nations.
Bush Would of loved this War because of the patriotic fervor that carried the US thru its short involvement and the huge profits made by big Bizzness, but would have disliked the cooperation for world peace
WWII has an interesting turnaround Japan was a country seeking natural resources for its empire via military conquest and force. The US rightfully was trying to prevent this violent expansion They attacked Pearl Harbor because the deemed the US a clear and present danger to their interests. FDR could see and knew right where to find the Nazis and imperial Japan he knew that both these forces were a danger but the people of the US didnt want to get involved. He could only offer aid and arms to the allies before pearl harbor. Its amazin that so many people dont know that WW2 started 2 years before Dec 7th 1941. FDR was a brilliant man who kept brilliant men around him despite their differences
Bush would have handled this like he handled Katrina installing political hacks to positions of power, underestimating underplanning, misjudging misleading and then spinning the results.
Lincoln was truly a Godsend, an actual miracle, in that he was the exact right man at the right time to save democracy liberty and our country.
Wilson was a brilliant and very competant man with a vision for world its future and the future of peace and liberty
FDR - Smart well, supported, and with a compassion that only a man who suffered as he did (his handicap and the bad health that he suffered) Managed us through a WW and a great depression
Bush !
Was given the gift of the downfall of communism, no more cold war. A surpluss in the treasury, a strong economy, peace and prosperity for 10 years previous to his taking office.
1.He has doubled our debt over (8 trillion and skyrocketing)
2.Devided our country along political lines the worst it ever has
3.Ignored social problems, Education - No child left behind failed and never revisited, a crisis in health care costs,
Social Security??? I guess its good hes to lazy to take another crack at that
4. He claims that hes making us safer even tho our own US intelligance in report let us know how his polocies are actually having the reverse affects. Hes alienated us from allies, if he was smart there would be Muslims catching Muslim terrorists. Put us at War where Terrorists werent. And made us less safe at home,4000 less Cops and Firemen work in NYC then did on 9/11 because of Federal budget cuts
5. He attacks the enviorment, has secret energy polocies
gas hits 3 bucks a gallon and Exxon pays its top execshuge bonuses
I could go on and on how this man with no acomplishment,no resume. No experience in War except for avoiding t personaly, no experience in business except for failures and bankruptcy. Has come to power spoiled lazy overprivleged overentitled and because of his name and connections.
Lincoln once said that the Civil War was the price we paid for the sin of slavery.
Perhaps we now have to pay for all the great leaders that we have been fortunate enuf to have in our country, maybe its a test to see how we do when leaderless or pointed the wrong way.
Bush could mean the eradication of America

George is our Herbert Hoover. Our decline started with Reagan however-with things like deregulation of banking which led to the s& l crisis. Then there was greenmail (another flow of money to the rich). Phony energy shortages and securities fraud. All very reminisent of the 20's.

I think George Bush will end up being judged and found guilty. Instead of spending his waining years frying ants and beetles with a magnifying glass in Crawford, he will end up spending it counting the number of times his cellmate rapes him.

When history judges Bush it will not be kind. He was a much more incompetent leader. He is nothing a sore on society's butt.

Since FDR had a LARGE number of communists on his staff, it is obvious that GWB is more of a patriot and true leader. Read Revelations. It will tell you all you need to know.
