Depends on where you live. It's always called Sleepover here whereas it's always a Slumber party where I used to live.

To me, sleepover is just a friend(s) for the night, Slumber party is a party with a few people for a birthday.

A slumber party is when you have more than one person spend the night and a sleepover is when you have one person spending the night.

a slumber party is when you have a big (sometimes small) party and your guests sleep over. a sleepover is usually smaller, and all you do is talk and sleep together.

slumber party usually means a group of people, and or alcohol, and a sleep over is usually a smaller group of people, or one person, and it's usually just sleep, or talking, not other things...
