When I was little, I remember going to a park called the "Land of OZ" (I think) in the mountains of North Carolina. I followed the story of the movie; you went into the house which "spun" like it was in a tornado, then the floors tilted and you walked out the other end into "Oz", followed the yellow brick road, met the Scarecrow and the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion, etc, etc, etc. I don't know if it is still there or not, it was about 30 years ago. It was located in the Maggie Valley area near Tweetsie Railroad, I think.

There was some discussion of trying to acquire the land and build a "Wizard of Oz" theme park near the Kansas City metro-area, but I don't know how far those plans have advanced. The land they were trying to acquire was a former military munitions plant and needed to be cleaned-up (like EPA super-fund clean-up) before anything else could happen.
