There is no regulation under BS7671 for the positioning of sockets near sinks.
The NICEIC advice is to space them at least 300mm ( 12 inches ) away from the sink or drainer.
If this is not possible then a splashproof type must be used.
Hope this Helps

If you have metal (Earthed ) taps then you should not be able to also touch a potentially live plug socket. There are exact regulations for new premises but if you work on the fact that you(Or more importantly your kids etc) cannot hold a tap and a live (Pesumably faulty) plug at the same time you will be OK

Having the shops close to the sink won't reason a fireplace or explosion. the prospect from having them too close to to a sink is you are able to drop or knock a plugged in equipment right into a sink packed with water. maximum codes specify shops ought to be a minimum of three ft from a shower or bathe and easily above and to the realm of any sink or conceitedness. Ask the contractor to place in GFI's in any circuits that have shops close to the sinks and you will have no concerns. this is code in maximum places now besides.

You would use GFI's in the kitchen around the sink. You want them in a convenient position. 1.5 m sounds about right. That is a meter and a half, is the counter even that long and you would want one on each side. I have 4 outlets on both side .5m from the sink.

as per electrical code the closest to the edge of your sink can be within 2 ft . so you can put it right on the out side of your sink but not directly behind the sink

At least 300mm (1 foot) from the edge of the sink is sufficient according to the NICEIC. I would normally aim for at least twice that if space permits.

Best ask a Plumber or someone familiar with the rules of Building Control. If you get it wrong you may have to change it and that would be a right kerfuffle !

As long as you use Ground Fault Interrupter, you can put the plug whenever is convenient.
I would stay about 2 feet away.

As with many things talking to your local code authority is the best option. And also, use GFI type. Take no changes is my idea with electricity.
