unfortunately no, he still has way too many followers who are looking to reinstate the "old" ways. Until the insurgents are gone, Iraq will still be a mess.

No. But it will send a message that no matter who you are if you screw up you will get your punishment. Saddam was all powerful. Hanging him will prove the point. OBTW He wanted a fireing squad. Hanging him will reenforce the message.
