I am neither happy about it or sad, just no feeling about it at all. I just can't bring myself to get happy about the death of another person no matter how vile a person he is. I don't understand why so many Americans are happy...Saddam Hussein isn't the one that bombed the USA after all.

Patriotism is ONLY the love for one's country. It has nothing to do with what you believe in politically. People have turned the word patriot into something that means that if you are a patriot then you are always right.

Do you love America? The country, not necessarily the government. Do you love America? If the answer is yes then, congrats, you're a patriot. It's that simple. Don't let politically inclined fools tell you you're not a patriot because you believe in anything else. All patriotism deals with is love for one's country, ok?

I think you use the term happy too loosely. If you can't already see the purpose of Saddam being made to pay for his crimes is a good thing. Then there is nothing I can say to you.

I can't be happy there are more people like him how exist in the world. But then I realise the world we live in is NOT Utopia. You may not know this.

As to the unpartiotic thing --Patriotism has nothing to do with the death of a tyrant.

It's got nothing to do with patriotism, except if you see, as many of us Europeans do, the show trial against him as very damaging to the reputation of the US. How can anybody in the area believe in democracy, if that trial is supposed to be part of it?
It was a shambles and a charade, and has only served to make Saddam Hussein a martyr in the fight against "the Western devils".
Of course it also serves to deepen he tribal and religious divides in Iraq, thereby serving the American intention to have an excuse to stay put as long as the oil lasts.

I feel the same way as you do, no real feeling for him personally. While I am glad for the people he WON'T be killing and oppressing anymore, he is still a human being that somehow got very twisted. Thinking that he was once a tiny helpless infant and could have been shaped into someone who could have done a lot of good in the world like mother Theresa or Ghandi, is sad. But I guess you can't have incredible good without incredible bad, just like just like day without night, joy without pain, how would you know the difference. Some people are destined for greatness, whether it is great good, or great evil.

Don't forget it was the americans who put him in power to begin with. No you aren't unpatrioatic, and I wouldn't use this forum ot gauge the way americans really feel. Lots of shills and trolls here, especially today. I am against the death penalty, so you know how I feel...

The whole trial was a joke. With all the outbursts, killing and/or resiging of lawyers and judges, lack of evidence, im surprised he was actually even convicted. Killing saddam will only de-stabilize that region even more.

I think hanging is too good for him.
It's too fast.

Bush went after the wrong person for the wrong reason --oil.
However have you looked Saddam up on the net ?
Have you seen how many people died under his command ?
His people elected him and then he attacked THEM !

IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT HE ISN'T THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR 9/11.
AT LEAST HE HAS BEEN CAUGHT AND WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MILLION OR SO PEOPLE HE KILLED.

Your feelings is shared by many. May be that's because he didn't kill any of our relatives, that we are not very happy about that sentence. Well, they expect an appeal and quite possible he'll live in prison for a long time.. We'll see.

No, it isn't unpatriotic. True patriotism means standing up for what you believe, and you don't believe in killing.

You are pathetic. How can you not celebrate the end of ruthless tyrant? The rest of the (civilized) world is happy. Go cry in your pillow for poor little Saddam, while the rest of us celebrate.
