Thomas Jefferson was the most vocal Anti-Federalist of the era. Alexander Hamilton was a very strong Federalist in the early period of US history. They both were members of Washington's first cabinet, Jefferson was the Secretary of State and Hamilton was the Secretary of the Treasury. They were polar opposites politically and didn't like each other personally.
