This year is is Friday the 10th or Monday the 13th? We are a new company and are unsure of which day we are supposed to be closed for this year.

Thank you

I know it is a holiday for Government Employees. Other than that retail stores in Ontario usually open after 11 o'clock to remember the armistice at the 11th hour that ended World War I. I am pretty sure it is not a stat holiday otherwise in Ontario.

"Statutory holidays vary by province and territory. There are five statutory holidays that apply to all jurisdictions: New Year's Day, Good Friday (or Easter Monday in Québec), Canada Day (Memorial Day in Newfoundland), Labour Day, and Christmas Day
In the federal jurisdiction, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the three territories employees who qualify are entitled to nine statutory holidays. Eight statutory holidays are provided in Ontario and Québec, seven in Manitoba, six in New Brunswick, and five in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island."

So check what applies in your province

For most it is the 13th. I have a friend who gets the 10th off. Some companies let the employees take an extra day at Christmas.

I live in Canada and am pretty certain it isn't a stat holiday.
Why would it be? Usually it's appropriate to observe 2 minutes silence on the 11th hour of that day,Nov 11th, for the fallen.
