Get each one a christmas bucket of popcorn, that you can find in almost every store this time of year...it has three different kinds in it, butter popcorn, cheese popcorn, and toffee popcorn, and it's only 5.00 a can, a large can. It is the thought that counts....

The problem with Christmas is right there in your question:

"I need to buy..."

and

"..I would feel bad"

This is not what Christmas is about. Do you really think Jesus is looking down on you making you feel guilty if you don't buy gifts for these children.? C'mon, you know that is not the spirit of this Holiday.

Have them make gifts for each other out of whatever they can find. Even if it's just a card or poem or perhaps doing somebody a favor.

Christmas has been taken hostage by commercial interests. It sounds like you do plenty for these kids throughout the year. Don't worry about it. Maybe you need to find a different way to celebrate Christmas since this Holiday makes you "feel bad" and increases your "need to buy" when your "strapped for cash."

An appropriate gift certificate to their favorite store. A sports store, electronics, clothing, toys for the younger ones. A department store certificate, to buy the latest CD, or anything else they want. Ask their Mom[s], what they like. And load the card within your budget.
Gift cetificate for pizza, or Blockbuster.
A gift basket full of individual serving snacks, like popcorn, nuts, pretzels, buy a big cheap plastic bowl to put it in. [think Wal-mart]Put a Blockbuster gift certificate in the center, and a couple cans of soda in the bottom.. Pick out their favorite snacks and soda if you know what they are. Lots of stores sell celophane wrap for the outside of the package. Cut a big sheet, put the bowl in the center, and gather it up with a ribbon.Your budget will dictate how many snacks, and the amount of the blockbuster card.
I always wrap gift certificates, and buy a card. It makes it more personal, like you really tried to please them. and you did.
Hope this helps.

If you can get to an "Everything for $1" type store you might find some bargains there.

For a music lover they have CD cases, ear-bud headphones, i-pod covers. For a girl you should be able to put together a small spa kit with shampoo, body wash, and lotion - with the basket and a shower scrubbie and that's an entire gift for five bucks.

Try to group several small, similar items together to make a set, for example a stationary set, or a car care kit, or a bedroom decorating set.

This company has a temporary site and is having a promotion for the holidays and you might find some good things you can stock up on especially from their sports center link.
