Right, this is just personal and I apologise in advance if my answer is quite long! I hope it all helps though.
Communication!
It has helped me keep in touch with family and friends all around the world at such a cheap price! I mean, if I can't you IM (instant messaging) to contact them I can e-mail them. And with VOIPs, I can talk to them and see them using programs such as Skype. Also, communicating teachers is great because if my homework is word processed then why both spending hours looking for them around college when I can just e-mail them? Plus, you can always be cheeky and hand it on the deadline but at 23:59, 1 minute before the end of the deadlin and they can't blast you for not handing it when obviously you have... just by e-mail. Haha- anyone reading this- please don't do that or you probably will get into trouble.
Education!
Hmm, well I guess I mentioned education in the above but because I can type quicker than I write, I can do my homework quicker and also, typing on the PC is much neater than my handwriting :) so it is legible to the teachers and they can't mark you down for anything which is wrong when in fact it's right because they misread your word....
What else about education can I talk about? Some colleges and schools have their own internet and intranet websites so students and people can access it gaining information about the college etc. I think it is a good way but my college have not spent enough time or money on their one so it's rubbish but the idea of it seems quite good.
Entertainment!
I can play online games! For all you people reading this, yes, I'm a geek and I play WoW (World of Warcraft) but MMORPGs are very popular all over the world and good entertainment (debatable, I know). But I'm talking about how it has impacted me. I guess I have found loads of great stuff on the internet too and really daft things but they are very entertaining. Music and films, well, I don't do it, but I know of people who download music and films and games off the internet. Whether it is illegal or not, they will see it as getting the product for free.
Civil Rights and Crime- I'm not too sure really as I probably haven't been living long enough to be able to give a good answer to those two aspects. I will think about it and hopefully get back to you on that one.
I hope what I've said has given you something to think about! All the best!

ICT is not just about computers.... so the following are just some examples:
Communication
email, mobile phones, instant messaging, fax, video conferencing, digital radios being secure for emergency services. digital TV with news broadcasting, instant weather details, Sat Nav, bluetooth
Education
As a teacher it enables me to produce interactive learning resources, keep data on my students, keep learning resources updated and of a high quality, use online learning with students, make resources and information available on the internet so students can access out of hours, record lessons on digital whiteboards for revision and those that miss lessons.. and of course for the student - it is the other end of each of these. Use the internet for research.. such as homework help on Yahoo questions!
Entertainment
Digital TV, DVD CD computer games and games consoles, checking whats on at the cinema and other activities on the internet, using the internet, answering questions, MP3 players. iPod. Digital radio
Civil Rights
I can see online all the government departments, I can check online legal sites for information, access Liberty and other sites. Find out what is going on in the world so I dont buy stuff from countries with bad civil rights issues. Share information with others on what is going on
Crime
More security with CCTV and recording, but at risk of online theft and scams, Police have secure communications with new radio systems so people cannot listen to them so easily, ID recognition systems, HUGE criminal dB such as the PNC (Police National Computer) and direct links to the Driver Licence Records (DVLA) dB used to link crimes and keep tabs on criminal activity.
Thats all I can think of for the moment!!
