You obviously are a student. I was a high school counselor for many years. I have only one definition for maturity....you are an adult when you willingly accept responsibility for your own actions. This has little to do with your age. I have known people in their "golden years" who are still children and try to blame the rest of the world for their condition.
Remember this...you are exactly where you choose to be in life. Poverty is a condition of choice. No one wakes up one day and decides he wants to be poor, but a lifetime of poor decisions will surely result in a less than desirable outcome. So, stay in school; choose friends wisely; take responsible actions.

1. Growing up is achieving maturity and having a sense of loss of innocence. It is when you feel your mind is now open to all things material and worldly. Thus it is also a time when idealism starts to fade and hard reality sets in.

2. The opposite of growing up is arrested development. This is when a person has remained in an adolescent state of mind, or even before that. The refusal to grow up places a person's psychological and emotional maturity at a state of suspended reality where their perception of people and their surroundings are colored by their emotional and mental state of mind. They fail to see things in a mature point of view.

3. The worst thing about society is people's biases and prejudices. These has been the cause of so many suffering and strife. The best about society is the power of the human spirit. Whenever tragedy strikes, the community unites to help each other out.

4. The best thing about school is the interaction among students and between the teachers and students. The worst of course is its objective view of learning. Each person can learn but according to personal capacities. Some learn fast and others learn slow, but all of us can learn. Noone remains an idiot forever, unless he's in a coma or in a catatonic state.

5. Peers are good because they become part of personality development. They shape a person's behavior. But this is a two-edged sword. Peer pressure can also encourage bad behavior. That is the worst of it.

6. The best thing about my friends is that we have the same interests and enjoy being together. The worst is that we knew each other so well that it's difficult to keep secrets from them.

7. The best about one's family is that we always have somebody to turn to in times of need. The worst is when one's family is not there to help you out.

8. The worst thing ever said to me is that I'm a failure. The best thing ever said to me is that I am loved and cherished. No one has yet hurt me physically, and I hope it will never happen.
