The appeals process is quite limited in Iraq and will be gone through rather quickly. Then the verdict and sentence must be approved by the Iraqi president (and two others, I think). The approval probably will not take long either. While there is another Saddam trial going on, he could be executed before its completion. My feeling is that all trials on all charges should be completed before he is executed so that there will be documentation of all his acts before he dies.

While the appeal is automatic and there is no specific time for the nine judge panel to review the appeal, Saddam will swing within 30 days of the appeal being rejected. The case was pretty much open and shut. Many signed documents an all that stuff.
I don't see any part of the trial of Saddam having anything to do with the Republican party. *LOL* Now the Democrats on the other hand might send a delegation to get his sentence commuted to life or maybe even get him a pardon.

Yep, they are not easy on criminals like the US.
On the Republican party image, there is nothing that can be done on this front. Most of the world is clueless on why we have to fight this war. Nothing can be said or done to change that.
Why is it with liberals that everything is done either for image or political reasons? How about it is done just because it is right?

Bush says yes, Blair says no. It isn't rocket science to know who's going to win this one is it.
