Don't you love it when people do everything BUT answer the question? I'm a Firefox user myself (have been since version 0.5), BUT I would still strongly urge you to keep IE7. Why? - given the way Internet Explorer is so tightly integrated in to the entire Windows platform/architecture, all the bugs inherent to IE6 are also carried across into Windows - even if you never use IE7, you'll still be massively upgrading your security levels!

Now that's out the way, let's tackle your problem. The reason some pages are not yet working properly in IE7 is simple. Till now we've seen a fair amount of poorly-coded sites on the net - IE6 was much more intuitive in its make-up, which allowed such sites to go unnoticed. Those days are now coming to an end!

IE7 will NOT do the clean-up work for those poorly written site any longer, which means the site developers are now finally being forced to re-design their sites in a manner which is standards-compliant. This is a good thing, but it will mean a little inconvenience for the user for a little while.

So what can you do in the mean-time? Firstly, when you encounter such a site, send a quick email to the site admin, as they may not even be aware of the issue. Secondly, download and install a second browser (such as Firefox or Opera), as these pages may well perform correctly in either of the browsers while you are waiting for them to update their site content.

Hope this helps you out, and explains the situation a little more clearly for you :)

You know, I've been hearing a lot of complaints about IE7... it doesn't load pages, it loses bookmarks, it crashes... Sounds like a Microsoft product to me.

All ribbing aside, I strongly urge you to get Firefox...

Free, fast, a small 5mb download, Firefox blocks pop-ups and sites from secretly installing programs on your computer. It will copy over your settings from other browsers (cookies, settings, bookmarks). Firefox is powerful too, it's more up-to-date than even IE7 according to the web standards (w3.org).

The main reason I like Firefox is because it's customizable.

Why is customizability important?

Imagine being able to do 2 small things and never seeing a banner ad, flash ad or an iframe ad again? (Remember, pop-ups are already gone)
Imagine being able to pause your computer's music player when the phone rings without having to switch to it?

Firefox puts the power back in your hands!

You don't need IE7 unless you have Windows Vista. If you have XP and get IE7, it can cause many problems for your computer. You should uninstall it and go back to IE6.
