Here's the deal...my boss is sleeping with one of my co-workers..I know this probably happens alot, but we work in a hospital and in a small unit with only about 12 employees. At first they tried to hide it, now they are pretty open about it. No one likes working with her, she does whatever she wants because she knows she can get away with it. Now the holidays are coming up, and he has taken me off my regular rotation to give her the time off. This is going to put me working all 3 major holidays, plus everyone else is just getting mad about how she is getting special treatment...Any ideas of what we should all do????

First, this really does not have anything to do with them messing around

It has everything to do with employee's rights.

First you need to ask your boss for the days off you requested.

If he doesn't give you a valid reason, or if this scenario is repeating itself over and over again you take step 2.

Your hospital or union will have a Human Resources department and contacting them is step 2. They are your representatives and they are bound by the law to represent your rights. Tell them your situation, everything divulged to a Human Resources representative or officer has to be kept in confidence so you can tell them exactly what the situation is.

You have your rights to holidays just like everyone else - within reason. So step 1 and if you get no joy with that... take step 2.

That will sort it out.

you and your other employees need to get together on this and speak with whoever is above your boss. This happens way too much and you all need to stand up for yourselves. There relationship is a conflict of interest and probably isnt even allowed by the hospital make sure you look into it and get your co workers to have your back!

Check your company handbook and see if there is a rule about employees dating. If there is, show it to him. If there isn't, take him aside and tell him that you thought he should know, that a lot of people, no names, think he is showing favoritism to his girlfriend and you thought he should be aware of it so he didn't get into trouble over it. He should get the hint.

Confront him. Tell him how everyone is feeling and then add the fact about your 3 holidays. Don't act mad, just tell him "Hey Bob I have to talk to you, people are really starting to talk....." Good luck

have everyone on your unit send anonymous letters to the CEO/head of the hospital and copy it to your HR representative.

be factual in your letter....little emotion...just state facts that have occurred and how it is impacting business and their employees.

rational letters written professionally with facts will go farther.
