The science is to exit a corner as fast as possible, the art of doing this is a completely different story however, dependent on driver experience of differing surfaces. The mechanics of the car are there to help and inspire confidence and control when faced with a tricky situation and to enter the corner at the optimum speed ,keeping control and then powering out.You must have good understanding for audible instruction and the ability to register and picture the on coming hazard as explained by your co driver. Finally good financial backing as this can be quite an expensive sport, especially the better and more successful you get.

The science behind rally racing is all about preparation and handling. How you get your traction, suspension adjustments, steering assemblies, aerodynamics, fuel and engine soop ups. What type of pistons, whether to blue it, cut it or heat treat it, how to handle air flows into carburettors, whether to have tighter or softer springs, attachments to steering assembly for leverage turns that small turns of steering for larger wheel movements to create artificial oversteer, then ultimately good communication equipment to get your bearing from the navigator good field note.
