There's so many things you can do for corporate Xmas parties. Obviously there are all of the normal things like going for a Christmas meal etc but then there's loads of alternatives. Like you say comedy clubs are good, I went to Jongleurs a while back with work and had a fab time. If you boss is looking to throw a party you could suggest the following (all depends on how much they want to spend and if you work for a big company etc)
-Themed party, fancy dress, masked ball, cocktail making, live bands, lookalikes, circus acts, go to a casino, ice skating, snow machines, magic shows, festive quizzes with prizes...theres loads and it doesnt have to be boring old turkey and crackers every year! Good luck!

Loads of restaurants are advertising their Christmas menus at the moment so a nice meal might be good. Try and get a place with a good bar nearby so you can go there for drinks afterwards. That's pretty much what we've done in every place I work. Not too pricey and you can get away unnoticed if you want.

most places do a meal and entertainment all in thing but my job once went to a Christmas Market where there was an outdoor skating rink and stalls and hot chocolate for those who did'nt want ti skate, then we went for a meal and then drinks. It all depends on the budget is your boss paying for the event or are people expected to pay for it themselves? We all have to pay for ours so for some people they dont go cos its quite expensive when you have loads of personal nights out and pressies to buy around that time.

How about a nice Christmas movie? Something like the Santa Clause 3.

Find a nice hotel, there are loads in Kent, especially round Tonbridge and hire out their function room. They should provide a bar and a good meal, hire a DJ and/or a comedian and you have your entertainment for the night!

Does it snow there? You could book a sleigh ride. Or how about a sliding party? Or check your chamber of commerce web page and see what events are being put on. Our city runs a locomotive through a fantasyland of holiday lights. Or you could buy a block of tickets to the local playhouse production, whatever they are putting on for the holidays. Sometimes you can reserve a side room for your group and bring cocoa, egg nog and cookies.

Sorry Hannah, you've left it a bit late to get anything together for Christmas. You need to start Christmas arrangements in June if you want a decent choice. However, it may help if you let us know the area you are talking about.

Try your local Chamber of Commerce website for current events and links to other local websites. I'd also like to recommend that you go back to your boss and ask questions like - what is the budget? should it be food driven? family members included? no alcohol? game/fun environment? community service type of event?
good luck!

Try asking for information from local hotels and restaurants. they should have christmas party nights on which will include a four course dinner and a disco/band throughout december.
