I've seen dozens of people on these boards recommend to people who have serious diseases like cancer to stop taking chemo or other conventional treatment and start using herbs or vitamins for a "cure." This kind of stuff is flat out dangerous, people may actually listen and quit their therapy to try some alternative practice that doesnt work and die. Does yahoo need to step up and crack down on stuff like this?

swomedicineman: yeah i agree with you and that's how i use it, but there are people on here who dont have the best common sense, and when people have serious diseases like cancer they tend to be desperate which can drive them to do desperate things, like quit chemo and take some vitamins instead

I agree. Laymen should not be recommending any treatments for seriously ill people. It would be good if they could be sensored, but it will not happen. Do not depend vitamen A for leukemia either.

No, yahoo shouldn't stop these answers. I am not one that has answered to quit chemo and try alternative medicine, but I have done alot of research on both. and I am in the medical field and so I feel I am educated on both. I haven't had cancer, but I have had success with herbs every single time I have tried it without any side effects whatsoever. As far as cancer, these people who are taking chemo are taking poison. How can this be good? It is the same stuff used in genocidein warfare. I realize the point is to kill all the bad cells but while killing the good cells until the patient is almost dead, so then they have to regenerate. How absolutely miserable and inhumane. I wouldn't treat my dog this way. People can make their own choices, but it doesn't hurt to have a little information on something that has absolutely no side effects and much better quality of life. It isn't your place, nor yahoo's to decide these things. It is a life decision that really people should have a fullunderstanding of all options. I have read of many people being cured of cancer from these all natural things, including reputible people. I have even heard of some being cured just by changing their diet. I do believe there are synthetically made vitamins that won't help, you'd really have to have whole food supplements, but the idea is correct in my opinion. Dr's only know what they are taught. It is important to remember this, I know from experience, and many are persuaded by drug companies don't tell me they aren't i know this from experience as well. I also know from experience that drugs dont' work like they are advertised. But yes they could certainly ask their dr about it before quitting chemo one therir own, shouldn't do anything ontheir own.

For Heaven sakes NO! Remember "Freedom of Speech". Believe it or not, with a little self-education, people can decide for their selves if they want to accept an article as true. We need as much controversial literature in the public's eye. Too many are just sheep, and believe what they are told. The world needs to be awakened!!! And I have been using several alternative healing modalities for almost 15 years. This occurred after conventional doctors could not tell me why I stayed sick! By the way western conventional medicine is called Allopathic. Allopathic medicine is controlled by Pharmaceutical companies and Insurance. Need I say more?

Also, I am taking care of a woman, who found out in Feb. 2006 that she had cancer in her brain, lung, liver, pancreas, and kidneys. The doctors gave her 4 to 6 weeks. It's Nov. now and she is still alive. In fact, her doctors told me to keep doing what I have been doing. They are shocked and amazed. Yes, she has had radiation and chemo, which made her very weak, sick, and could have killed her if it wasn't for the nutritional supplements, vitamins, and herbs. Every time she had a treatment, a new side effect would appear. I would ask the doctors what can we do to help her. They would say nothing. Wrong! For each side effect, I found a natural healing aid that cured it. Notice I said cure. Most pharmaceuticals do not cure. They take care of the side effects. Homeopathy, nutrition, Reiki, Meditation, Prayer, Herbs, and ect. come from God and were put here by God to help us.

Did you know that American Indians had a cure for cancer? It is called Essiac tea. Did you know that the Easterners have a cure for cancer? It's called Holy Basil. Did you know that most people that have the trait for cancer, can avoid it, with good nutrition and a healthy mental/emotional outlook, which means letting go of the negative emotions.

I am not saying to forgo conventional treatments, but to compliment it with the alternative healings would be smart and cover all bases. In fact I use allopathic medicine for diagnosis. We usually follow what the doctors say, but add the natural healing alternatives also.

And here is another fact to chew on. When my friend's insurance ran out and she was up the creek financially, her doctors quit seeing her. Why? Because they are in it for the money. If they truly cared as healers, they would have helped her get medicaid/medicare help. No, instead they are sending her to another facility. Can you imagine how this made her feel?

The internet is a wonderful communication tool. I have learned so much. But I have had to use discernment. I would hate to see it being controlled by a narrow minded self-serving group of people. Blessings and Love to All.

This is a forum for people to ask questions and get answers; however, it is up to those who are seeking answers to use common sense when following advice. The answers received can help someone speak to their MD's and look at things the MD may have not thought of. Best advice would be to follow up with family doctors or specialists, not just rely on answers in yahoo.

no longer possibly. I seem to locate that many questions are very almost each and all of the comparable questions are being asked over & throughout returned. usually on the Singles & dating type. the only questions i'm asking or answering are unique questions that has been asked infrequently or no one has ask in any respect. i might submit a undemanding question yet on condition that its a final motel. in recent times, i'm searching for unique inquiries to respond to or ask. i assume some human beings sense the comparable way & this is why much less human beings come right here & participate.

What's the point of even HAVING an Alternative Medicine board if it's going to be censored? American doctors are treated as priests, and alt cures are looked upon as heresies. The sad truth is that conventional medicine isn't perfect, and the pharmaceutical industry is just that - an INDUSTRY. They are here to make a profit, not to make you well. There are documented incidents of people being CURED of various illnesses out there. It is up to the INDIVIDUAL, NOT the doctor, to take responsibility for one's own health. Lots of ppl die under doctor's care, too, in case you haven't noticed.

You want primary? It doesn't GET mor primary than this:

No. I dont think they should do that. People who use the yahoo answers are not idiots. If you are so concerned then Yahoo can put a rider saying that, please consult your physician or use caution and your discretion before using the medicine. In most cases the alternative medicine does not have side effects. and they can use it along side of their other medicine.

Why should some lay person be responsible for what another lay person does on their own? If they are asking for answers on this web site then maybe those treatments aren't working for them and they will try something stupid. However, if convential treatments aren't working for them, why can't they try something else? If they are stupid enough to do something stupid, why should someone else be responsible for their actions? People need to take responsibility for their own actions. If they don't want to hear what other lay persons have to say, they shouldn't act lay persons.

It is not your 'job' to control peoples answers, nor to decide the mental health of the person asking. Please control your need to control and let others have an opinion. Oh, and thank you for yours!
