Last week I started to bleed heavily after not having a period for 7 weeks. The pregnancy test I did was negative. I went to the doctor who prescribed me tablets. He said I was having a miscarraige. I have fainted twice in the past week and feel that I am having contractions. I bled very heavily for 3 days and spotting for few days after that. My stomach is very sore. How long does pain and bleeding last when you have a miscarriage? Id appreciate any answers or advice from women that have experienced the same. Thanks

I suppose it depends upon how far along you were with the pregnancy. Since he didn't do a DNC to cleanse your uterus I have to assume that your pregnancy was still very young. I had one performed in my 5th month. The bleeding laste for a couple of weeks and the contractions were sporadic due to my uterus contracting back to its normal state. My sisternlaw miscarried twins in her 8th month and had to birth them and her bleeding and contractions lasted much longer. Try calling your ob/gyn office and speak with your doctor's nurse. She will be able to tell you if the symptoms you are experiencing are right in line with the healing process. However I think that what you are feeling is normal due to my own experience. It won't hurt for you to call your doctor. Don't rely solely on the responses here in this forum.

I had a miscarriage that started on Thursday--my worst day (in terms of pain) was Friday, and I am lightly sptting today (which is Monday). I was a little over 4 weeks along, so I expect my bleeding will not be as severe as it would be for you at 7 weeks. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor what to expect--your doc needs to examine you after your m/c to make sure that all of the baby/placenta/anything else has left your body--otherwise it can cause an infection. I'm so sorry that you are going through this.
I think you should seek another doctor--it sounds like the one you have is not looking out for you and your baby. What were the tablets? How come he didn't tell you what to expect? My doctor told me all of this--I found him by calling the local Pregnancy Resource Center (usually listed under "Abortion Alternative" in the Yellow Pages) because I wanted a pro-life doctor. They are generally the best at taking care of the health of the mom and baby, and they have the most information about early pregnancies since they recognize the life of the child.
I will keep you in my prayers. God bless! I hope everything turns out okay. Please let us know how you are doing!

I had a miscarriage 12 months ago and it was the worst time of my life. I started bleeding at 7 weeks and lost the baby the following week. I had contractions and was taken to hospital but they only lasted about 7 hours and was allowed back home. I continued to bleed for a further two weeks then nothing. A month later my periods were back to normal. I guess the pain and bleeding will vary from woman to woman. So sorry that you are having to go through this. So sorry! Everybody is different, some women have no pain, some have tremendous amounts of pain. I suffered from heavy bleeding (HEAVY!) with clots for the first 2 days. Dizziness occurs when your blood pressure drops from being anemic-try to take a vitamin with extra iron and stand up slowly. I also had spasms in my lower abdomen along with very strong menstrual-like cramps. I felt bruised in the lower abdomen and that lasted for about a week...All in all, it took about 12 days for the physical pain to go away...sounds like everything you're experiencing is normal except the fainting, but there is a reason for that and you need to take care of it. Make sure you bring it up at your 2 week post-misarriage appointment so they can run your bloodwork for an iron definciency when they check your pregnancy hormone level.

I have had 4. Mine were all spontaneous. In other words second trimester, heavy bleeding, passing the baby, etc. I had no pian other than stomach soreness.

I think it might be better to insist that your Doctor do a pelvic exam, and perhaps a Dand C. I cannot imagine that your Doctor would not have done that in the first place. Fainting could be the tablets he gave you, or blood loss. No offense, but he sounds (your Doc) like a quack! I mean what were the "tablets" he gave you. He didn't sit you down and explain what was happening to you?

Blessings to you. Hope you feel better.

For me I was spotting the week before the actual miscarriage, then I had two nights of heavy bleeding, the second of which my partner called an ambulance. Yes you do get what I imagine to be (never carried full term!) contractions, followed by your body expelling what the hospital refered to as 'pregnancy products'. Fortunately they then gave me a clear out so I had no more bleeding. But all in all it is a horrible frightening experience. Hope you fell better soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that x
I've had two miscarriages myself, the first one nothing came away and so I had a d&c, my second one I started bleeding on the sun morning no crampings and then by the tues afternoon I had really bad cramps and everything came away. They say the cramping is the product passing through the cervix.
I would really go back to see your doctor though as you might need a d&c as you may have an infection.
Hope you feel better soon
Best wishes
Vanessa x

I think everyone is different. I suffered a very early miscarriage last year and didn't bleed for very long but if you are worried you can call the NHS direct and have a chat to someone - 0845 46 47
Or even call your own doctor to reassure yourself.

I'm so sorry for your loss and hope you feel better physically and emotionally very soon.

I had bleeding at 5 weeks besides, pink then brown. unusually like an exceedingly quick era. I panicked and went in for an ultrasound, yet all develop into widespread. it would properly be what's widely used as implantation bleeding, even as the embryo extremely attaches on your uterus. First, call your clinical specialist. She/he will inform you what they informed me: relax, drink a large number of fluid, dodge rigidity, and if it persists, bypass in for an appointment. A miscarriage at this level is a few thing they can't ward off (in accordance to my clinical specialist) and if the embryo/fetus would not stay placed, it would propose that the cells weren't forming authentic, which on occasion can ensue. tense about it may on occasion make it worse, so supply your self a spoil and relax.
