Snow White is one of the most well-known fairytales.

By deconstructing, what is mean to give alternate endings, twisting the plot, manipulating the characters and other ways that strays from the happily-ever-after scenario.

The decontruction has to make sense like countering the damsel in distress, prince charming archetype.

This is for my gender and sexuality class.

We can't think of an alternate plot with a significant deconstruction.

Well the 7 dwarfs could actually be perverted old men, who hire Snow White to keep their cabin clean...while wearing a skimpy dress. And the prince could be incedibally drunk when he finds her. And decides that since she's passed out there's no harm in taking advantage of her. The kiss would be more of a slobbery attack than a sweet peck. :)

I'd think Beauty and the Beast would be more insightful for femenists.
My theatre teacher said B.and the B. was sexist telling women they should put up with a man no matter what, but my French teacher feels it says women transform men into civilized creatures.

As for Snow White, the secret lies with the wicked queen and what really happened to her in the original grimm version. Appearently Mean Girls have been around for a while. The Prince has never been a large part of the story.

Cinderella tells young girls to endure child abuse and wait for a fairy godmother or a bunch of birds from your mothers grave.

Snow White also has a touch of incest as the Evil Queen was jealous of the King's "love for snow white" over her, or at least fearful of it.

There is a book written by Tanith Lee called "White As Snow" where the queen really was her mother and she was crazy, the Prince Charming was a necrophiliac and she fell in love with one of the dwarfs.

When the Prince wakes her up with a kiss, after they marry and start to live their lives the effect of the poison apple comes back and puts both of them to sleep.

Or Snow Whites children suffer from the affects of the poison apple and try to harm her in some way.
