There are 100% rebates on McAfee and on Norton from stores like Staples and CompUSA. You buy it at a reduced price and send in the coupon. They refund the rest of the price. That way you are buying a known good brand but not paying anything.

Also check with your ISP whether they offer a virus scan for free. Mine (RCN) does and others might too.

receive those: Avast (loose) Hijaackthis(also loose) incredibly each and every man or woman has atleast a million virus on their pc, notwithstanding that's both encrypted extremely properly, or undetected (for now) no one is secure from malware, no count number what you do. the in hardship-free words aspect you may want to do is help shelter your self. So basically, no such aspect as one hundred%. the optimal secure practices an antivirus can grant you with is 70%, and that is avast. the different 30% are both undetected (privately made, uncomplicated to make viruses now with information superhighway framework, even a n00b might want to do it) encrypted, and professional C++. So yeah, hijack this and avast definetly help, yet no count number what you do, you mustn't be one hundred% secure. Wow I were given a thumbs down for affirming the actuality? Whoever did that to be is a stupid noob that would not understand some thing about computers.

Don't you have an Anti-virus. There are a few web pages that you can go to to scan your computer for free. Unfortunately they all want you to buy their product to clean it up. If you Have an Anti virus CD, Just put in you CD drive and start your computer with it in and reboot it from the CD. It will run the anti virus before it starts windows and clean it of Virus's. Hope this is helpful.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus is free and cutting edge,

Don't use Virus Burst, it is a trojan virus.
Don't Pay. there is plenty of freeware.

BE CAREFUL where you go on-line. Think of it like STDs, any website you go on is like your computer sleeping with another computer. Just hope your computer doesn;t get raped (and that's possible too@!)

I would suggest downloading HiJackthis which will scan your pc and list all the activity/problems. Then you can look at the results and fix it yourself or post the results online for the experts to figure out.
