I am currently taking a stage combat class, and though we have learned basic hand to hand techniques and a bit of sword and dagger fighting, I have long wanted to see a play that utilized martial art styles onstage. This though, would require a combination of martial arts specification inscript as well as some martial arts direction on the part of tech or director to be impressive.

Are there any online resources to look into to get some basics to show my class, or does anyone know of or has seen this happen well onstage? Any information would be appreciated.

A lot of Shakespeare's plays use a considerable amount of stage combat, as does a lot of modern day musicals, like west side story, Man of La Mancha, Wicked... and so on. There is always a TON of it in film too especially in action/adventure like kill bill, the matrix, and thousands of others. Though assuming that for class you need to stick to the classic theatre type I would look through the links below, and possibly consider looking at doing a section of a fight from West side story for your class... it's fun and relatively easy. (I think youtube possibly would have examples of them done by students as well)

good luck (I'm always a little weary about telling a stage combat class break a leg ;P )
