What is the real reason why Tony from the show Girlfriends (UPN now CW) left?

I have posted this answer before but since Girlfriends is my favorite show, I have no problem sharing the information.

I posted this answer recently for someone else's question but I hope this helps you out.

I read that when UPN and WB merged, Girlfriends was not sure if they would be picked up for another season. Jill Marie Jones (Toni) decided not to return back to the show no matter if the show was picked up by the CW or not. I also read on another website but not quite sure how true it is, that the reason she is not returning is because the time had come for all 4 women to negotiate their contracts. They decided amongst themselves that they would only accept a certain offer and if the company tried to low-ball them, they would all refuse (sort of like the cast of Seinfield and Friends). Supposedly Jill Marie declined the low offer just like the others said they would but come to find out the others accepted theirs which left Jill Marie out in the dust. Which ever story is accurate I am not quite sure but what is true is that as of now she is not returning as a regular cast member.

Hopefully they will continue to negotiate her contract and maybe she will return sometime in the season. I'll even be satisfied if she does some guest appearances but I know that the show won't be the same without her. Also from watching the last few episodes, it doesn't look like the show will be as interesting as it was when she was on there. I am still upset with the whole CW lineup, I want my Half & Half and Toni back on Girlfriends!!! Sorry, I just had to get that out, LOL.

The CW is UPN and somethoing else (WB?) blended. i've got no longer considered grilfriends the two yet I wager somebody will re run them agaion quickly. beautiful tutor. i did no longer comprehend the focuse of The CW replaced into directed at Latinos, however. I only thought THEY thought mutually they could be bigger and extra suitable. notwithstanding works. the different stations % a extra energizing rival and that i think of The CW could be it. what number physician and crime scene and lawyer shows can we %?

I read it was a contract dispute over money. The other 3 girlfriends re-negotiated there contracts, but she didn't settle and left. How did they explain Toni's absence on the show?

I heard that she was doing some movies and that the show has run it's course and I also heard that they wanted her to take a pay cut. I don't know which one is true. The show is just not the same without her.

I read somewhere that she was doing some movies that are time consuming. But I also read somewhere that she is supposed to be coming back but I dont believe that because they are trying to add Williams fiance' as a "girlfriend." That's what it looks like to me.
