A girl in my work had one at 12 weeks and I know that they had to do an internal one with her, so I think chancing a ultra sound at 8 weeks is a little premature, and I dont think she should panic straight away.
They should be able to confirm one way or another, so the poor woman doesnt have to wait in agony for a month.
Tell her not to panic and over analyize like us women do, GOOD LUCK!!!

I had an ultrasound at six weeks due to a pain I was having in my side. We could see the fetus on the ultrasound, but the technician couldn't detect a hearbeat, so I went back the following week at seven weeks. At that point, we could see the fetus and detect the heartbeat with internal ultrasound. At eight weeks, I think both of these should be detected.

Pregnant for 2 weeks doesn't show up much in an ultrasound---heartbeat beings 21 days after conception or at about 5 weeks. Baby starts showingu visibly on an ultrasound at about 8 weeks.
God bless!

At 8 weeks they should have seen a a heartbeat and what they call a fetal pole.
If she is really 8 weeks, then I'm sorry, but there is something wrong. Most likely a blighted ovum (egg fertilized never developed) they make up 90% of miscarriages.
It could be that she is off on her weeks.....if she less than 6 weeks, they would not expect it to be there yet.
The blood test should give them an indication of fetal age....if it has dropped since her last test she has had a miscarriage.

I have been pregnant twice and on both of my mine they didn't even think about doing an ultrasound till 18 weeks. My sister-in-law just found that is pregnant again, she is 2 mo along and she told me yesterday that they did a vaginal ultrasound on her. I'm wondering if she isn't far enough long yet to see anything. Also has she had any spotting or bleeding? Because if she has there might be something wrong.
