Well, it comes down to the fact that a game needs either the 360 or the PS3 or one of the others.
So it depends on what games you like - PS3 will have more of one type of game, and the 360 will have more of another type. My impression is that there are more First Person Shooters for the 360.
And the PS3 will be at least US 100 more than the 360. Also, the first batch of machines is the batch that has any bugs and glitches - I would let the "early adopters" deal with that, then buy it later, after they have solved any problems.
So review your game preferences, review the titles for each platform, check your wallet, and decide from those considerations which to buy.

I've had one since March and I am SO pleased with it, its just amazing. I play it through my PC monitor, and it looks better than about any game I've played on my (pretty good) PC!
Mind you, I neevr took to the PS2, I see it as a pretty naff upgrade to the original console, so I don't see much to be excited about the ridiculously priced PS3. All of the games I've seen so far on it look like the same old thing.
I'd say get a 360, a copy of Dead Rising, and you won't be bored again for months!

Playstation 3, it has the lastest technology compared to xbox 360.
Sony has incorporate a lot of it's lastest technology from other Sony products. Like the newest blu-ray player, that's the top-end of disk player, which means games can be made more demanding.

the xbox 360 is a great system for kids and adults,
the PS3 will probably also be a great system for kids and adults,
the nintendo wii seems to be a great system for younger children,
The xbox 360 is pretty expensive,
the PS3 will probably be a lot more expensive.
