Any of us who wake each morning, are able to take that first breath, have already, and again, achieved "Life"
I assume your question relates more to dreams, goals, plans, however.
In the act of living, we all dream about "what if" and/or have some "plan" even if it's subliminal. Most of us have goals, and try to develop a plan to achieve them.
One of the errors we make, as a species, is to plan or dream on a scale much more grand than might be possible? It's likely we develop self expectations, or are guided by those of others, and that alone can be self defeating.
I'm not the freshest "Slice" in the "Loaf" and certainly have fallen victim to over extending possibilities and dreams as they might detour and subvert relaities, but an option is "Never Quit"
Within that context it may be that "Baby Steps" can become larger steps? Pace can be a way to achieve without becoming disenchanted. Breaking life into smaller, more managable BITS, might help? Realizing that WE are our greatest opponent.
