As an educated citizen of the World, the only thing I find hard to swallow is the narrow-mindedness displayed by both Democrats and Republicans to the views of the other. There have been Presidents from both parties that have lied, Nixon and Clinton easily come to mind. Democratic Presidents have shown they won't back down from threats, Cuban Missile Crisis when Kennedy was leader. All I hear and read about is how a vote for Democrats is a vote for Saddam or the terrorists. Life-long Democrats, Life-long Republicans. How does an election mean anything if no one changes how they vote depending on the issue just because their parents were for one party or the other. I don't profess to know more about your government than the next person but when a candidate has less votes than the other, shouldn't the one with the most votes win?Just an outside observation.
P.S.
Yes, I do know how the electoral votes work, just doesn't make sense though if the candidate with the fewer votes wins....

There are people who do know more about the US government than some US citizens do. But, not all of them are are quoted in the papers. It doesn't make sensational reading to only quote the informed. For a truly good scandal / controversy quote a couple of idiots who disagree with the majority it sells.
