If you are taking clomid, you need to be absolutely sure to tell your dr, because of the increased chance of a multiple pregnancy. There is no extra risk to get clomid from a dr, but there are a lot of places that say they have "prescription drugs" and they're not the real deal. If you are TTC, you should be carefully monitoring everything you put in your body. The "clomid" they gave you may not actually be clomid, and that's scary. However, the normal day to ovulate after clomid is 5-9 days after your last dose of clomid. Your cycle begins on the first day of menstruation with full red flow, and that is day 1. You should take clomid days 5-9, then have intercourse every other day to allow for the sperm to build up. Intercourse days are 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19. You should have intercourse before you expect ovulation, because sperm can live inside the female reproductive system for up to 72 hours, while the female "egg" only lives an average of 6-12 hours.

First you should never take any medicine, especially a prescription drug without it being prescribed by your doctor. Second how do you know you don't have POCS? Did you doctor do an ultrasound, blood work to check your levels? If you haven't been ovulating, that is a sure sign of POCS. My husband and I tried for 4 years to have a baby, two of those years were through the doctors, one being my ob/gyn and the other a fertiltiy specialist. When my ob/gyn put me on clomid it was because I didn't ovulate, she also gave me metformin (its a diabetic drug but if you have POCS, you are insulin resistant too). I had hot flashes, and when I first start taking them, I was nauseated. But it went away. To determine your ovulation date, if you are ovulating, you need to chart your temp. Take your temp in the mornings BEFORE getting out of bed. Mine was always around 96-97, but if it would have went up to say 99, then I would have been ovulating. I really would advise you to consult with your doctor on any questions or concerns you might have. Any advice we tell you on here, is just our experiences, not a medical professional's training.

I think you might have POCS, just by the way you say you have always been irregular, don't ovulate....and just because you have a period, doesn't mean you ovulate. I always that I was ovulating, wrong, never did. You can find out more about POCS if you search Yahoo Health, WebMD, or ask.com. Good Luck to you!

Additional ~ Okay, calm down, you just really sounded like you had POCS to me. I wasn't aware that you had been checked for it. If you can't get pregnant after a year of trying on your own, that is when your doctor will put you on clomid or whatever they deem necessary. You could go ahead and chart your temp because that is one of the things they will want you to do.

To answer your question, when you take Clomid, ovulation can happen 5-9 days after the last pill. So when you, for example, take it from CD 5 to CD 9, then you'd expect ovulation from CD 14 to CD 18.

Clomid is used for infertility and not birth control. It's an antiestrogen. What you are doing is so dangerous. This drug can cause an uterine cyst, ovarian enlargement, PMS, hot flashes and can enlarge uterine fibroids.
This drug has to be carefully monitored by a doctor.

how did u get clomid without seeing a doctor first? i had to go through a long process to get mine. i had to be declared infertile, take all kinds of blood test to see my FSH levels and other things, i had to get an ultrasound to make sure my tubes weren't blocked. it was a long 4 months to actually begin it.

why did u not ask your pharmacist?

the metformin (glucophage) was combined with the clomid. one side effect i remember is having hot flashes.

If you just stopped birth control a month ago, that is too early to detect infertility...and how did you get clomid without a RX?? That puzzles me....I think you should talk to your dr
