Jessica, I know exactly what you are going thru. I wear glasses and so does my son. Poor thing, he started wearing glasses in the 3rd grade. He is in the 10th grade and now he wears colored contacts-johnson acuvue 2, his eyes are brown and he wears blue. When he needs to rest his eyes, he wears some John Belushi blue brothers black rim glasses. They look funny but he wears a funky T-shirt, jeans, and ckeckered slip on shoes and he makes people laugh. He really doesn't like glasses but you need to rest your eyes. Contacts is putting something inside your eye so you have to keep them real clean with disinfectant. When he turns 20, I may have him get the eye surgery that cures nearsightedness. Hope this helps you.

I wear glasses too, if you are starting to wear them for the first time just wear them for a couple of hours at a time for the first couple of days and gradually increase it by about an hour at a time until you're either wearing them all day everyday or you have adjusted to wearing them.
It's a weird feeling isn't it? I remember feeling shorter and feeling that the floor was a little closer than it used to be.
I would ask your optician about contacts though, I couldn't wear them but this was a long time ago and technology has advanced in a big way.
Good luck ;-)

The best thing you can do, is just keep wearing them. You may need to go back a few times to have the frame adjusted so it'll be more comfortable, but that's nothing unusual. If you have the type of frame that has the adjustable nose pads (the round\oval type) I would recommend having the "silicone" pad put on -- not the hard plastic ones. The silicone pads won't keep slipping down you nose.

i think you need to get used to wearing glasses and letting your eyes adjust to the way you see things through them and when you are comfortable with them and happy, thnen move onto contacts. i have been wearing glasses for long distance since 10 yrs now. its ok but i dont have to wear them all the time so its ok. whilst your wearing glasses, why dont you change to contacts when your going out or on special occassions? i tend to find that easier. i cant be bothered with all the time and effort that goes into it. i got scared once coz of what happened but i'd still wear them if i really wanted to tho. hope i helped good luck :D PS glasses are dead fashionable too :D

You know glasses are not that worst. I have started to wear glasses since one month. I thought that I will look weird but I wrong. I turn up to be the coolest girl in the college. Everybody tolds me that now I look stylish. My small secret is that I have the most fashionable glasses of that time. My doctor told me to wear it almost all the time if i don't want to turn up blind. Contacts are not so advisable. They turn my eyes a weird colour of red and i stop using them immediately.

Stay with the glasses. In about a week ,or two you will be completely adjusted to them. If you go to contact lenses, you will have another adjustment period to endure, just like the glasses.

If you can't get used to something on your face, how do you expect to get used to a little piece of plastic sticking to your eyeball? Contacts are awful for the first month. At first you can only wear them for a couple hours, then you have to take them off and wear your glasses until the next day so that your eyes can get used to them. They get really dry and feel like they're glued to your eye. It feels gross. Trust me, get used to the glasses, contacts are a PAIN!! Just wear the glasses and resist the urge to take them off. In a few days you'll be used to them. I promise. Plus, they easier to take care of than contacts. Just think one little swipe and they're clean compared to taking them out and cleaning them in solution and losing them on the ground and not being able to find them. And with contacts, you still have to wear your glasses anyway. I love my glasses, I think I look better with them than contacts.

Well, lets see, The first time I got glasses was in kindergarden and I hated them because I don't like stuff on my face except make up and I barely even wear make up. n-e-way, My glasses use to break all the time, my grandma and my aunt use slap me really hard every time I broke or lost them. So I suggest contacts because I've had such bad experiences with glasses, plus you could get colored contacts or something!!!
