In what areas? Common sense? Many, many are. Knowledge? Many, many are. Part of the problem is so many people watch CNN or FOX News, or one of the networks, and believe everything they see to be the total picture, and thus are only partially informed.
The only way to have a full deck is to check the box and make sure you have gotten all the cards out! And then count them and make sure you get 52!
And then of course there are those who believe that those who play with red cards are missing some because only the blue cards have a full deck, and vice versa.
BTW, I am a proud American Veteran who has a full deck. Mixed colors.

Because intelligent Americans make bad television. A stupid or ignorant person can be made to say funny things. Like our current president who goes down to Brazil and says "You have Blacks down here too?" Ha Ha!
Of course if you stayed awake in school that week, and learned about the history of South America, assuming your school bothered to teach you any, you might have been ashamed for your country.
There are several reasons why so many of us sound so stupid.
1) Our schools don't help us. We learn in school that we live in the best country ever. Period. That doesn't encourage us to check out what anybody else is doing or to compare it to our country. We won you lost that's it. Only the most rebellious and contrary child would wonder "If it's so good here why won't it stand up to a little comparison in the light of day?"
2) Our government lies to us and we don't like to believe that. We hope time and again that we need to drop the bomb because Japan won't surrender any other way, that the North Vietnamese attacked our ship, that Watergate was just a 3rd rate burglary, and that Saddam h. had the WMD. Those are just a few.
I sometimes wonder when some of my countryfolk are going too get a clue. I just think they want to believe that the president would not lie too them even if it's been proved time and time again he will if we don't hold his feet to the fire.
3) It's hard work to be informed. Most Americans don't want to do the work. If we spent 1/4 of the time we spent on following sports, and gave it to governing ourselves, the country would sound and act a lot smarter. People who can handle complicated baseball statistics and football draft rankings can understand legislative redistricting if they try.

It would be simple for me just to say racist but then Michael Moore came to mind. Those Docu - Fables blimey what a storyteller. Yeah there are a few disturbing Americans but they seem to be those who are self loathing and live in California or New York and run the Liberal media and reminisce about Uncle Joe and that great democracy the former Soviet Union ( brings a tear to the eye) . We got a few over here to ( Britain) they also seem to be attracted to the media and the arts maybe its the genes or a virus eh maybe i should give Professor Dawkins a bell then again maybe not.

Anyone seen Rick Mercer's "Talking to Americans" ? It's a Canadian, talking to Americans and it's insane. Ppl believed that we have a different clock schedule with more hours, that we don't have Mc Donald's, that we just got a weekly newspaper, etc.
Check it out, you will laugh!
btw, I think it's relative. Stupid ppl everywhere ;)
