No. I think it should ban bigotry. It'd be very hard to enforce the bigotry ban, though. It's so widespread.

And I get fed up with the apologists for bigotry towards gay people just because it comes from religious fundamentalists. Yes, they have a right to t heir views and beliefs. They have a right to criticise things they don't agree with. They do not have a right to control what others say and do, though.

A gay parade does not prohibit anyone from practising their religion. And I'm not slamming Israel. It appears to be the closest thing to a democracy that exists in the Middle East. Gay people aren't imprisoned or murdered or publicly executed, and it's the only country in the Middle East where there would even be talk of a gay parade. And despite the argument that Israel is a theocracy, it's also the only country in the region that truly allows freedom of religion.

Jon X, what on earth are you talking about? Jews hate gays? Come ON. That isn't even vaguely true. Heres the problem - the pride parade cannot take place in Jerusalem. There is NOTHING wrong with that. We gay people love to insist that everyone accept and embrace us, but wake up, folks. People DO have the right to practice their religions, and Israel is a Jewish state. There are plenty of NON-religious areas in Israel. In fact, orthodox Jews make up a small percentage of Israel's population. Most Jews, worldwide, are secular, and secular Jews do not condemn homosexuals, (Jon X, A little info for you.) So why not have the parade in Haifa? Why not Tel Aviv, or Eilat, or anywhere other than the holy city, which is populated by ultra-orthodox Jews? Its an attempt by the gay community to stir up controversy, and its working well. But unless they want people to get hurt, they should do the smart thing and move pride to another city.

Is this the Israel who's motto is "Weapons, not Condoms"? Maybe they could combine a peace march with their pride parade.
There is NOWHERE on this planet where a gay pride parade is inappropriate.

No, but then like most nations which are now controlled by Right wing Theocrats, it will most likely do so in the future. Truth is, many minorities, including many Jews, hate gay people. Ironic that they would visit upon gays the kind of hatred and discrimination they themselves would protest against if put upon them. It never ceases to amaze how selective peoples memories or convictions are.

Note to BoardingJD, if you read properly, you will note that I said "many Jews", not all, not most, not even the majority, but many. Please, if you must criticize, be accurate. As for your statement regarding Israel being a Jewish state, thank you for confirming that it is a theocracy as opposed to a true democracy.
