Yes a fan did play for west ham once !!! It was near the end of a season, could of been the last game i think, and he was giving Harry Redknapp a load of stick. So harry said if he could do any better he'd better put a shirt on and do it .So he did !!
Can't find nothing on the net to support it, but i think he has a autobiograthy out so it might be in that !!!
Good luck

I think I can help you out here, There was an incident similar to what you have described. When Greame Sounness was at Blackburn, he recieved a call from who he believed was World footballer of the year, George Weah. He claimed that his cousin was a highly talented footballer who had played for Senegal and that he would fit right into the Premiership. Sounness (the muppet) decided to give the guy a month contract and subsequently brought the guy on as sub in a game against Leeds. His performance was so shocking, Sounness knew he'd been done by a regular guy and hauled him off after 53 painful minutes! The guy's name was Ali Dia and he'd already tried the scam on a few different clubs without sucess. Only Sounness fell for it!
I know that this isn't the same as you described but it's the closest thing that actually happened for someone playing although I seem to recall something about someone sitting on the bench and managing his team for a match. Not sure if this was West Ham though ?!

I don't think that is possible. For somebody to play in a Premier League match he has to be registered as a player. If HR did ask the spectator to play he would probably have been punished for 'fielding an ineligible player'. This can be punished by a deduction of points or even expulsion from the League.
So as far as I know, it didn't happen.

I am a West Ham fan and can say that I do not recall this at all. I doubt it would have happened as HR would have had to register the player and everything.
I am aware of the bloke who sneaked into the Man Utd team photo and the England Cricket team photo once though.

In a pre-season friendly a couple of seasons ago a fan was giving heaps of abuse to one of the West Ham players, so Harry told him that he couldn't do any better so brought him on as a substitute. sorry I can't remember who they were playing and I can't give an exact date, all I remember is that I definitely saw a report of it on Sky Sports News.
