Hi
I own a Baja Pulsar 2002 model(non DTSI) I have also ridden the DTSI version. Previously Plusar had the gearbox problem in that sometimes there was a false neutral which used to sometimes creep up. But the same seems to have been fixed in the latest model. Also the gears make noise while shifting but this is normal and will reduce with usage and timely servicing and oiling.

As for the bike, I will surely advise you to go for it. It is a complete bike. If you ride it properly without too much braking and at constant speed with minimum gear shifts it can give upto 60kms per litre average.Braking is good and its a real quiet bike. Do check out Unicorn and Apache before making a decision just to be on the safer side. Otherwise its a good bike. My bike is 4 years old and has not given me any major problems whatsoever. My clutch plate is still the same i had when I bought it. All runs fine.
Drive safely.
