It really doesn't matter what time of year you sow grass seed, if it is to cold to germinate, the seed will lie dormant until warmer weather comes around. I have sown seed in December, January and February and they have all turned into lush lawns.
Have even sown new bowling greens in January, and had them ready for bowling season starting.

Should be done between March and September, but if it's only patches you want do try a Autumn grass feed, I did this last year and the patches grew over the winter.

well it depends were you live
and the type of grass you are sowing.
the heardiest we use in canada is kentucky blue grass.
and it is best sewn in the spring, just after snows gone
so it gets all thos w april may showers to grow.
or in the fall, usually the beginning of sept, were it has warth still
in the sun and lots of rain in oct and nov.gto grow before
the snow.
we also use a ( root fertilizer )for grass seed, and it helps
the roots to grow quickly and strong.
the kentucky blue grass withstands heavy flooding
heavy snows and the coldest winters.
the strongest suns.
It will also withstand long draughts as lond as the roots are kept
wet usually after the sun goes down.
it even grows well in full shade.were it never takes sun.

Work the spots up well and then rake the grass seed in. You may want to cover the areas with a bit of straw or hay, just lightly of course.

Yes, you are too late for this year. September is the last of grass sowing. You need to wait until spring. Hope this helps.

Much depends on where you live, but I've seen grass sown in November and December turn into a beautiful lawn.

In the event that it's a fruit it includes seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.

It depends how far South you live. You might be able to. Go ahead and try, grass seed is pretty cheap. If not, just try in spring.

You probably have. Location matters, but from your description, I would think you want to wait until Spring to do any grass seed.

Well, since you've sown the seed, just be sure to cover it with lots of straw. At the start of Spring, if you don't see any new sprouts, you may have to resow. Keep the straw! :}
