As Maria Sharapova said, every time she walks into the center court, she gets assulted & sexually harrased by Sickos who scream all kind of sexuall absenety, marriage proposals, love declarations, offers for dates by horny guys & even girls.
Is the world gone mad or the quality of tennis fans turned into huligans, sexually obsesed & lesbians & not anymore like the good old days?
I agree with Sharapova ! Now a days tennis fan quality does not exsists & as i watch the game, i can't help but watch how many mentaly & sexually sicko fans are among the spectators who came to take a snap shot of her bending over, rather than watch that beautifull sport.

I agree with you, BUT don't you think it is because Nike, and all her sponsors uses her as a model? And as a sexual model too!
Her dresses (Nike dresses) are too provocative (I was in Miami for the Nasdaq, and the dress was too provocative)...
If she would dress as many other players (Petrova, Hingis, Mauresmo, Clijsters, Henin) she would not get the attention she gets from those psychos

It's a go-to statement that analysts use to basically say that because Lebron hasn't won a title he isn't great individually. They also use it to downplay the success of the Cavaliers. The funny thing about that is, whenever someone says "hey why hasn't Lebron won a title?" The comeback is always "well he never had a great team". So basically first they state that Lebron has to win a title for the Cavaliers, but then blame the lack of a title on his teammates. Well, according to them, his teammates aren't important if *he* has to win them a title. Oh I see, it's only their fault if they don't win. They're full of crap. First of all I'm not a great believer in the idea that titles necessarily make a player great. Besides like you said it's not just Lebron who wants a title, the CAVALIERS want a title. Analysts on ESPN etc. forget that their are many important players that are major parts to that team or any team.

The problem is goldengal, the "SICK" fans, aren't limited to women's tennis. There is problem with fans in soccer (racism and riots in the stadiums), hockey (hockey parents and coaches who yell and abuse players and officials), football (fans pelting players with snowballs), basketball (remember the incident between the Indiana Pacer players and Detroit Pistons fans), and probably other sports as well. Pro Wrestling has had their share of fans taking it too far with pro wrestlers. If you go to these events, you have a right to cheer and boo, and maybe even trashtalk the opponent, but you don't have the right to physically or verbally abuse them to the
point of obscenity.
The guy who stabbed Monica Seles years ago, Gunther
Parche, was a lathe operator in Germany who was an obsessive
Steffi Graf fan. He was mentally ill. The problem is many of these
fans aren't mentally ill, and they think just because they bought a
ticket, they can do what they want to the athletes they came to see, when in reality, they don't. Actually there are wellbehaved
tennis fans who are there only to see the matches and cheer and boo, like regular sports fans, but these fans will get overshadowed by the bad seed element that exists. It's like when
the LAPD officers beat up on Rodney King in that video. They were cops who abused their power to some degree, but it doesn't mean there aren't good cops in the LAPD, because most
cops are probably decent good people. It's the bad cops that
give the perception they're all bad. New Orleans, on the other
hand, is probably the most corrupt city in the USA in terms of
crime and their police department.

And Steffi Graff got stabbed by one.

Fans have a very bizarre notion of what it means to be a fan.

Mr. Mutumbo in basketball was called all kinds of vile crap from some fan who claimed "he didn;t know that it was an insult to call Mutumbo what he did".

We carry on as to how the athletes sometimes ruin the game. Fans can be just as vile.

It's Maria's fault. Look at the old days, no one plays tennis like a celebrity, long dangling shinny earrings, sexy out fits and long blond hair! She's made to a sex icon and that's why people are sooooo crazy over her. Figure skaters used to be the most flamboyant but they are way shorter than tennis players.

What is Maria complaining? It's her honor to be harassed!

I think that most of the women bring this upon themselves. It all started with Anna Kournikova. Obviously, these days she is known as one of the hottest sports figures of all time. She presented herself in a sexy way to get her more attention once she failed to reach expectations in grand slam events. And then came the williams sisters. They both are looked at as the sexy african american players who can kick *** on the tennis courts. Serena is ofter publicized because of her infamous outfits that show off her butt; The most famous being the black cat-suit. And i think that sharapova has done the same thing as these other girls. Yes she has alot of talent. But she presents herself as a sex symbol. She has all of her sexy photo shoots and TV ads. And im not saying that what the fans are doing is not wrong, but i think its ultimately what the WTA wanted in a way. They wanted a broader fan base. They wanted the game of tennis to be more enjoyable and appealing to the fans. Thats why there have been a sudden group of changes to the game such as line challenging and on-court coaching. These women exposing themselves as sex symbols is just another way to invite more fans to the game of tennis. So yeah Maria may be exposed to harrasing comments, but in the end, its what she got by doing what she does.

Welcome to the world. Sorry hun, but it's not just tennis that's affected...those sickos turn up everywhere!

(Oh, and I agree with the above answerer about invitational attire)

Oh goldengal, why is it that you are obviously bothered by this, yet your answer to a young 21 year old woman asking if it's normal to not want a boyfriend right now is to see a shrink and a sex doctor??? Are you the down-to-earth gal your name suggests? Or are you an ignorant person who is telling a young impressionable woman that she needs to see a shrink and a sex doctor because she doesn't want a boyfriend?

What is funny about that is she has promoted herself in a sexy manor so it only feeds the frenzy. They have added extra security so that they can not get near her. That only came about as a result of the Seles stabbing. Unfortunately there is not all that much they can do. It has been going on for a while. It is not new to this generation of players.

Well, its not all down to the fans.. peharps the tennis players themselves (ladies) should worry less about how good they look in the skimpy outfits they now wear, and concentrate more on tennis. they must share some of the blame
