gridlock for rest us while they're waiting five minutes for the other car to leave? Why don't they just go up a couple of levels and park there?

My local multi-strorey car park always has space on the higher levels...if you can ever get there.

I have a theory to this, and it's women.

Haven't you noticed how women seem unwilling to walk more than 10 metres when they park up?

Men tend to use logic and see where there's a bit more space so you wont return to a car with dents on both sides from other peoples cars.
Women always want to park inside the lobby, they don't want to have to actually put one leg in front of the other before they then spend 10 hours walking around shops trying on just about everything before they walk home empty handed.

There is always a mad scamble for the closest parking spaces at a buliding near to where i live, and it's the GYM!!!

They are lazy and rude. I have seen them try to squeeze a Hummer into a spot for a VW. I can part at the back of the lot and still make it into a store faster than someone trying to get a spot in front. A;so in the back of the lot you don't have to worry about banged doors. If there are two spaces open close to the front, I straddle the lines and take up two spaces, if you don't your door will be dented by someone trying to park a big car in the next spot. I still find the best is just to park to the back of a lot.

I always drive up, because I'm guaranteed a mother and baby space right near the lifts...but maybe other people don't like driving in multi-storey's, so they take the first space to save themselves hassle. I guess there's no guarantee to them that there's going to be more spaces further up, so they take the opportunity to get parked early on.

It beats me, i just shoot up to the most empty level. I then use 2 extended protrutions to move towards the stairs, then down.

I don't think most people think more than about 5 seconds ahead. So they see the space, and thats it, that space is for them, they can't compute that other spaces may be available.

how many times have you seen a car park that you can tell is rammed but gone past a space thinking there will be another one and there isnt? It's very very annoying. People have better things to do than waste there time driving around and around and around car parks especially when they usually dark and nasty.

POssibly because there may not be any other spaces in the whole car park?

Because they can and because they got there before you. Why should they drive on up just on the off chance that there may be another space. It's a pain, but that's life for you.

Get in early before all the morons drag themselves out of bed.
