depends what you want.

core duo is more powerful but runs hotter and uses more power (lower battery life)

Do you want computing power or long battery life?

Centrino is just a designation by Intel. The processor you have is a Core Duo (aka. Centrino Duo) and is Windows Vista capable. The Intel Core 2 Duo is the latest and fastest Intel processor and is the successor of the Core Duo.
The only problem you might have, is the decent grahics card GMA 950 (this is the correct designation). Intel® 945GM is the chipset, not the graphics card.

trust me on this .. you wont notice much difference at all in everyday computing between the different processors ... the main concern will be how good they are on battery ... and the biggest factor in felt laptop speed is the harddrive speed .... get a fast harddrive at least 5400rpm and prefferably 7200rpm ... that will make much more difference in the speeds u experience on bootup and everyday things like opening apps and surfing the net .. a core duo is fine ... so is a centrino duo or core2 duo ... look for other features u want like a nice display and a good price and dont worry about the processor too much ...
