Long Distance relationships are a very different type of relationship. There are good points and bad points to every type of relationship. Bad point being in this case that most long distance couples fear infidelity, but research has shown that those that are in serious long distance relationships chose not to cheat. A good point of long distance relationships is that it is very hard to get tired of one another. It also helps if one or the other is prone to feeling smothered. It allows you to get to know the other at a distance.
When in a long distance relationship although it is difficult to deal with the distance between you - you both are in it together and it helps build stronger bonds. You also develop a relationship on psersonality rather than looks.

Long distance relationships are a fine thing when you put the time and the energy into it. Just like any relationship Good luck to you!

I think that a long distance relationship can work, but I dont think it can really be called a 'relationship' if you have not met that person for instance, and just speak to them online. If you 'meet' them in person and spend time together, and you both feel the same, and things happen, and then you both go home with those feelings ,then it becomes sronger and can possibly last the distance.I have a crush on someone i chat to online, but without actually meeting that person, theres no way of knowing the real him.He may be totally different to how I imagine and I may not like that person?

Long-distance relationships can work.

And I think online ones can work if you have already met the person. I'd be a little hesitant about meeting someone online, talking to them only online and calling it a relationship. You never know who you are really talking to online.

As for the stories, I was in a long-distance relationship for 4 years, but we had already been together (in person) for a year and we spent as much time together as we could and talked on the phone and online.

If you're both committed, trusting and strong people, you can make a long-distance relationship work.

Yes they do work. You have to completely honest or it will not. I have a couple of friends on here that know they are friends and in all likelihood will remain friends. I am in a committed relationship and they respect that. Is great. We enjoy each others company and no one is at risk. Then again when comes to matters of the heart....you wonder. I believe anything can happen. You have to really know what you want. Most importantly respect yourself! To elaborate meaning if you do not recognize what you feel about something say so.Talk it over. As long as you are honest with yourself and them you will be fine. And if you give a cell number assure you really want this person in your life. Any relationship worthwhile takes time to cultivate. If the relationship withstands the test of time you are good. This friend of mine has known me now for 6 years and it has been great. My life is greater knowing him. I know I am safe with him and that is great. Good luck to you. I wish you well. And does my mate know. Yes.

hmm my partner and i met online just over a year ago. We are happily living together now and for us it really worked out. We would have never met if we didnt start chatting online, we were lucky i guess. Be careful and be happy.
