No. Too big a club for that to happen. They will buy players in the January window that ensures survival./

I would be very surprised if they are. However with no forwards through injury and them being very suspect in defence something needs to be done quickly. If not the players will lose confidence and almost get used to losing. People might say they are too big a club to go down or have too many talented players to go down. There have been many a team described as such who did not survive relegation. I think a couple of wins and a few players back from injury will see them climb the table.

Any team that can boast the squad that Newcastle have should not have any problems.

Shay Given
Stephen Carr
Scott Parker
Obafeme Martins
Damien Duff
Kieron Dyer
Michael Owen (injured)
James Milner
Albert Luque
Giuseppe Rossi

Just to name a few. But the fact remains if you appoint 2 brutal managers like Graeme Souness and Glen Roeder then you get what you deserve ... mediocrity.

I hope for the toon army that Sven is not their next manager, although anything is better than the current situation. Maybe he'll bring in Beckham and some more quality but along with that will come negative tactics.

No, I think they have a little too much quality to get relegated, BUT a pattern is emerging. Glenn Roeder leads a team to a 7th place finish in the league (Watford in 1995, West Ham in 2002) and then that team gets relegated the following season. Last term, Newcastle finished 7th in the Premiership! We shall see if it's third time lucky for him this season.

They won't get relegated but Roeder is for the high jump sooner or later useless manager in charge of what should or could be potentially top 6 side. They have good players and good support and have sh1t loads of money. The problem has been the management Roeder, Souness were or aren't up to the job.

All they need is a change in management and probably get someone with a bit of class or a decent work ethic

Who knows with Newcastle United, it's like a bloody soap oprea up geordie land.

I really do feel sorry for you Newcastle fans, you go and fill out St James Park every game and you have brilliant away support and you get treated to that garbage.

Glenn Roeder is a useless toster and Shepheard knows that too.

There is no way that Newcastle United deserve to or will be relegated. Glenn Roeder has had to work extra hard as his only striker at the moment is Rossi who is on loan from Man Utd until January. Freddy Shepherd will help Roeder by finding him another striker. Hopefully they will be able to get back up to the top 10.

(P.S I'm a Man Utd supporter)

No, the problem is in the manager, no disrespect to Mr Roeder but a job that has so many passionate fan's yearning for success should never have been offered to him, the fat controller should have broken the bank to land a top class manager and not have been so naive to have 'let it out' that Robson would leave at the end of the season and THEN let Souness take over, it beggar's belief. But as the fat man has said, he does back his managers.......................

Agree with Spurs 13, the other 3 teams are crap and Newcastle will spend the wedge again in January.

I have it on good authority Steve Bruce will be manager of NUFC before the end of november, a compensation package has already been settled ,with Alan Curbishley will become new manager of Birmingham City.
