The web site is for a local voluntary organisation.. and needs a web site.

I am willing to use templates etc and have photos / files that would be put on.

However, the organisation have very little money.. so all needs to be free or very low cost.

How would I build, design, and launch onto the internet?
I need to know set up costs and ongoing costs every month.

Any help or links or info appreciated.
Thanks

Sign up with moonfruit. Free to build and host a site. Some ads but nothing obtrusive or unacceptable. Upgrade to an ad-free version for £5.99 per month.

All you need is at:

http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/

You can download Webplus 6 for free or upgrade to Webplus 10 for only a tenner. You can also get free photo editing / desktop publishing software there. I personally love serif products as they are very easy to use, intuitive and simple.

For a sample of what you can build, have a look at my site - www.wildwoodguitars.co.uk This was built using the same program.

For hosting, beware of very cheap offers - these are cheap for a reason (unreliable, very limited space, lots of strings attached) You can't do much better than 1 & 1 for web hosts. Not only will you get your site on-line but you get free tools which will show you haw many people visit, what the most popular pages are etc, etc.

Good luck.

Here is one good extract oy my findings.

Firstly u subscribe for www.gmail.com Get a mail id. Then go to www.googlepages.com Here u can create website free of cost without any tool and ur website will not have a single advertise. Webspace is 100 MB. If you have subscribed as abcd@gmail.com then ur webaddress will be www.abcd.googlepages.com

Now to have a good domain name that too free of cost: Subscribe to www.uni.cc It provides domain forwarding by hiding actual domain name. Suppose u opted for a domin name like "abcd", it gives a domain name like www.abcd.uni.cc and that too without any advertise. You can use their (www.uni.cc) control panel to forward it to ur website on googlepages.com

U can visit my web to see a practical
Short name is
www.evaibhav.uni.cc

Hope you find it useful :)

I use freeola (www.freeola.com) to host my own wite (www.funkydoodycool.co.uk if you fancy a look). The hosting, access, and everything else is unlimited and free but there is one catch - you have to dial up to their own internet service to access your FTP server. Thats fine for me, cos I use their broadband service, which is very good.

I pay £20 to register my site every two years, and that is all I pay for it.

You may want to try www.freewebs.com for hosting. I have used them and when I used them it seemed to be fine.
