one thing you dont want to call them is arabs.. they are very adament about "NOT" being arab... I get this a lot from them... I am american-arab myself. and my american family thinks anyone from the middle east is arab.. but so not true.. Israelis are not arab, Turkish folks are not arab, Iranians are not arab etc etc.. they have their own language and their own culture.. even though these groups share the historic like culture of desert dwelings, dark skin, olive complected, etc etc of the past.. Iranians are muslims.. majority are shiite muslims which have a bit of somedifferent viewpoints from other muslims, like Saudi's for example which are mainly sunni muslims..

Mintee is absolutely right. Some of them feel insulted if you say they look like Arabs, or if you associate them with Arabs at all.
The Persian culture is very rich and it goes wayyy back into ancient civilization history. The current situation of the people in Iran have been very much affected by the Islamic Revolution, which is a whole other story.

Iranians...are the people of Iran,which was called Perisa,the major religion of Iran is muslim...but as anywhere else not all Iranians are muslims....the Iranian culture is rich in beautiful artisty and poetry and wonderful music and dance....as to major social issues this as elsewhere probly differs from place to place.....I do know that the Iranian people are very kind and manerly...at least the ones I have the great pleasure to call my friends......

Yes, although they are Middle Eastern, they are considered the direct descendants of the Indo-Europeans. "Iran" comes from a word meaning "Land of the Aryans."
And despite the government, Iran is one of the youngest and most beautiful countries in the world and Iranians are very good-looking, intelligent, and well-educated.
