First i would want to tell about the plebiscite thing.

UN Security Council resolutions 38-40, and particularly the resolution of August 13, 1948, said that Pakistan had attacked Kashmir, and ordered Pakistan to withdraw its forces and its tribals (those were disguised as tribals but they were pak army men). Pakistan has yet to obey UN Security Council and withdraw from lands (now called POK, Pak Occupied Kashmir) controlled illegally.

UN Resolution: Jan 5, 1949
Called for three actions in this sequential order
(1) FIRST, Pakistan must withdraw all its troops and all non-Kashmiris from Kashmir.
(2) NEXT India should withdraw bulk of its troops RETAINING those required for law and order; all those who had left Kashmir (on both sides) as refugees should be allowed to return.
AND ONLY THEREAFTER ascertain the wishes of the Kashmiri people in both portions of Kashmir under UN supervision.

Pakistan violated the UN Resolution
Pakistan is non-compliant: has not withdrawn its occupied forces thereby violated the first of the 3 actions outlined by the UN resolution.
ON the contrary India has only permitted Kashmiris to own land in India’s Kashmir per Article 170 of the Indian Constitution and per UN resolution.
So plebiscite can happen only when Pak complies with the UN resolutions.

Now for the answer. Neither India nor Pakistan is going to give an inch of either side Kashmir. And ONLY ASSUMING that kashmir is given to pakistan, do u think that their army will be satisfied? Their basis for existence is being anti-india. They just want to use kashmir as a base for a larger objective of destroying India and converting it into a Islamic theocracy. Moreover Pakistan has by terror driven out about 600,000 kashmiri pandits and infiltrated the place with ISI people.

And joint mgmt; with the serious trust deficit and in the current scenario that will be possible only when the sun starts rising from the west. I think nothing will be possible until the army / ISI is ruling Pak. The army in Pakistan does not want a solution to the Kashmir issue. That is the only way they can stay in power for an eternity. This issue can only be resolved when democracy comes to Pakistan.
And Pakistan also goes on the path of economic development rather than an anti-india stance. Currently the army does not want to do even economic dealings and put all issues in the back burner unless Kashmir is solved. Kashmir will be solved according to the pak army only when they take over the entire valley. But that of course will never happen.

So after real democracy is in place (in pak) the most practical solution according to me is to make the current L.O.C the international border.

India is a peace country why we are fighting for land. Just make an election in kashmir with the help of UN study what people thinking if they believe in India then ask pakistan to hand over Asad Kashmir.

If they like Pakistan hand over Srinagar to them. If they are not ready make a war with them and solve.

according to me if this matter will be solved neday whether in this deacde or the next one it would have two possibilties.
one- kashmir would be given to pakistan this would be if indian politicians get sick and tired of pakistan and get ready to give them some part.
second-there would be a big war to decide .india will win but it would be a great loss to mankind.

in all a third possibility would be that the issue gets over with the change in government in pakistan and the issue gets forgotten amidst the peace programs.

hope u like my opinion
lucky.

This about kashmir a wonderful place of earth but it is ruined now because of the misunderstanding between people, the person who wants kashmir form india must understand that people can live as they want as it is their land and by snatching it from one country to another doesnt make sense and doesnt bring peace to their people, i Prefer there is no use for fighting for land and more over that land is becoming obselete i prefer leave it as the people wanted and make it as it was once

as i understand, no plebiscite has taken place in kashmir. i think that it should be the people's opinion that should be taken into consideration. i know that this would not be that easy, as people might have been influenced by the militant activities. but then there is no ther way the problem could be resolved. in fact plebiscite should have happened much earlier. but it has not happened and situation then turned grave.

plebiscite seems to be the only answer.

Dude, being a South Asian myself, my advise is to just leave it alone. PEACE is what is most important. India and Pakistan are currently going on the right path to peace, for now :s. Love thy enemy.

Kasmir citizens are to marry Punjab citizens...by doing this they will become husbands and wifes, brothers n sisters, in-laws..so no one will go after any thing, demanding and both sides will be exonerated from the uproar.

Fill the place with migrants from the rest of India and let them own property there. Keralites in particular will be suitable as they survive and do extremely well anywhere other than in their own state.
